Sensex drops 100 points as Auto and Realty sectors experience volatility and gain

Stock market LIVE updates: Equity markets were trading near the flatline in Thursday’s choppy trade with the benchmark S&P BSE Sensex quoting at 64,951 levels, down 25 points. The Nifty50, meanwhile, was at 19,435, down 9 points.

The indices hit intraday lows of 64,873 and 19,409, respectively.


M&M, Apollo Hospitals, IndusInd Bank, Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti Suzuki, Power Grid, and Bajaj Auto were the top large-cap gainers, while Tech M, Tata Consumer Products, HUL, ONGC, UPL, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, and Britannia Industries slipped the most.


In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices gained 0.26 per cent and 0.11 per cent, respectively.


Among sectors, the Nifty Realty index advanced 1.3 per cent, followed by the Nifty Auto index (up 0.9 per cent). The Nifty FMCG fell 0.6 per cent.
